Step-by-step: How to become a certified diver

1. Theoretical teaching
   Before you can take your first breaths underwater, you need to learn the fundamentals of diving. This includes everything from diving equipment and decompression to safety procedures and dive planning. The theory can be taken online or in a classroom at your local PADI dive center.
2. Pool training
   Once you've mastered the theory, it's time to get in the water! In a controlled environment (like a pool or shallow water area), you'll practice essential skills like clearing your mask of water, communicating with your buddy, and controlling your buoyancy.
3. Open water dive
   This is where the adventure really begins! Under the supervision of an instructor, you will complete at least four open water dives, where you will gain practical experience in a real-world environment. Here you will have the opportunity to apply everything you have learned while experiencing the amazing underwater world.
4. Certification
   Once you have completed your theoretical training, pool training and open water dives, you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! This allows you to dive to 18 meters all over the world without having to have an instructor with you.
